About Joana

I am a former pro Tennis player who fell in love with Beach Tennis in 2008. I enjoy traveling around the world and helping the sport to grow. I have my own BT school in Rio de Janeiro and I also work as a commentator for the Brazilian TV – for Tennis and Beach Tennis. I represented Brazil at the Olympic Games in 2000 as a Tennis player and I loved the feeling to represent my country as an Olympic athlete. Therefore, I also do some volunteer work in order to make Beach Tennis an Olympic sport one day.

What is your favorite tournament?

National team tournaments, the World Cup, ANOC and Pan Americans. These are special competitions for me because I represent my country, Brazil 😍

How & why did you start playing Beach Tennis?
I was a professional tennis player before, and I started playing BT in Rio de Janeiro in 2008 when the sport arrived in Brazil.
 
What is your favorite sport besides Beach Tennis?
Tennis … I started playing when I was 8 years old, and I used to be a professional player.
 
Do you have any role models in the sport world?
I really like Rafael Nadal & Serena Williams. They are a big inspiration for me.
 
What is the goal in your Beach Tennis career?
I reached many goals already but I am still enjoying to play on the pro tour … becoming the best player I can be.
